Scandic Berlin celebrates midsummer at PANORAMAPUNKT
Berlin, 24 June
Swedes and Swedophiles are already familiar with the term midsummer: the celebration of the summer solstice – the longest day of the year.
But Scandic Berlin proved that you can still never know quite what to expect.
They invited their guests to come celebrate 100 metres above the city – on the sunny rooftop terrace at PANORAMAPUNKT Potsdamer Platz. There they enjoyed the breathtaking views of Berlin and of course of the hotel chain’s new flagship, which opened on 1 October.
Carina Östlund, Economic Advisor at the Swedisch Embassy, set the stage by talking about the traditions surrounding the midsummer celebration. The event was rounded off with music by Barde Achim Maas, who seranaded the guests with Swedish midsummer songs.
In true Swedish tradition, the midsummer meal was served under a festive maypole: herring and dill potatoes, fresh strawberries with cream, beer and Swedish schnapps.
