The fastest elevator in Europe takes you to the Panoramapunkt viewing platform at Potsdamer Platz 1. From a height of 100 meters, there is an excellent view over the east and west of Berlin:

The Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Federal Chancellery, Bellevue Palace, Cathedral, Gendarmes Market, Holocaust Memorial and Commemoration Church. On clear days, you can see as far as Teufelsberg, the concrete apartment blocks in Marzahn, and the wind turbines on the border to Brandenburg.

No other viewing point in Berlin offers such a fascinating view over the entire city, as well as a view of German history. The Panoramapunkt on the top of the Kollhoff-Tower is located directly on the line of the former Berlin Wall at Potsdamer Platz. Today, the old border is marked by a double line of cobble stones.

Nowadays, Potsdamer Platz is one of the places in the heart of Berlin where the growing together of East and West is most impressively visible: The urban construction projects by Daimler, Sony and Beisheim are surrounded by the new buildings of the federal states’ representative offices, the Bundesrat and the nearly completed Leipziger Platz.
